DocWorks
a Document Safehouse
In order to
insure the dependability of DocWorks , redundancy has been
built into all aspects of the system architecture. The system servers
include multiple load-balancing CPUs that function together or can
operate independently. Storage of image data and index information
is facilitated by an Oracle database and resides in a hot-swappable
Raid Array whereby individual magnetic drives can be replaced in
the rare case of failure, without any interruption to the DocWorks
system. Multiple Internet connections are used so that DocWorks
traffic can be re-routed if an ISP should become temporarily unavailable.
Power requirements are addressed through the use of extensive battery
backup systems that provide 20+ hours of uptime in the event of
power outage. A telemetry system is always actively monitoring all
vital signs of the DocWorks system including, software, hardware,
connectivity, security, power, humidity, and temperature.
The server room
is fully secure; the few individuals that are allowed unmonitored
access to it have been trusted employees with impeccable employee
records. It is this careful planning and highly available system
architecture that provides the primary guarantee of user access
for our clients. Our complete analysis of the DocWorks solution
includes a downtime feasibility study that shows our capability
of total uptime is over 98% and our actual results are much closer
to 100%.
Backups are
performed throughout the day and are kept in both offsite and onsite
fire resistant locations. In the unlikely event of system failure,
your data can be accessed or restored within minutes and in the
event of a more severe tragedy to the building or other infrastructure
the DocWorks system can be up and running at a backup site
within a few hours.
Neither in-house
content management solutions nor your current method of paper based
document and file storage include these guarantees in the event
of failure or more serious tragedy. The DocWorks system is
built to a higher level of redundancy/security (thus the term "safehouse")
than all other means of document and file storage and comes with
a complete IT staff that is seasoned in the maintenance of the system.
